Anil Kumble’s one year contract as head coach ended post ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The former India spinner was likely to get an extension but he decided to step down following his alleged rift with Kohli.

Kumble in his resignation letter termed the partnership between him and Kohli as ‘untenable’, clearly hinting at the strained relationship between the two.
