Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have held on to the third and fifth spots respectively while England pacer James Anderson has regained the top spot in the ICC Test Ranking for bowlers ahead of the five-match Test series starting in Birmingham on August 1. Jadeja and Ashwin have 866 and 811 points respectively while Anderson, who scalped nine wickets in the drawn two-Test series against Pakistan at home, has pushed South Africa seamer Kagiso Rabada following the Proteas’ 0-2 loss at the hands of Sri Lanka.
Rabada, who took eight wickets in the series, including a four-for in the opening Test in Galle, dropped to the second spot with 882 points, even as Anderson comfortably rocketed to the top with 892 points.

Left-handed opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne, who was one of the stars for Sri Lanka in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, has jumped to the seventh spot in ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. Karunaratne had scores of 158*, 60, 53 and 85 in the two-match series which Sri Lanka won comfortably by 2-0. Karunaratne, who aggregated 356 runs in the series has helped him to amass career-high 754 points in the ICC points table for batsmen.
Steve Smith, who is currently serving a 12-month ban due to his involvement in ball tampering, still holds the number one spot, followed by India skipper Virat Kohli. Cheteshwar Pujara was placed at the sixth spot while Joe Root is the only England batsman in the top 10.
Two Indian and as many English players found a place in the top 10 of ICC ranking for all-rounders with Jadeja and Ashwin at the second and fourth place and Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali grabbing the sixth and seventh spot respectively.
