Real Madrid coach is under massive pressure and could be set to lose his job in the near future. Several reports suggest that the Spaniard could lose his job within 24 hours.

Should the sacking take place, it would be his second time to be shown the door within a span of just four months- earlier this year in June, he was sacked by the Spain football federation just one day before the FIFA World Cup campaign began, the decision was taken because he had accepted the Real Madrid coach offer right before the tournament and given the point of time at which he took the job, did not go down very well with the Spanish fans and the football board.

Four months later, his club Real Madrid are placed ninth in the La Liga (Spain’s top flight football league) after a five-one hammering by the hands of arch rivals and table toppers, Barcelona.

Real Madrid are currently suffering one of the worst runs in the La Liga and the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane has not helped after they player-coach duo helped the club to their third consecutive Champions League title last season.

The battering against El-Clasico rivals have further deteriorated Real Madrid’s plight, before the fixture, they had not in the previous four matches.

According to Express UK, Lopetegui said in the post-match interview, “Regarding my future, I’m not the one who makes these decisions.”

“I’ve made it clear what my feelings are, and my belief in this team. But after that, the decisions aren’t my responsibility.

“I’m sad, and so are my players. I’m the manager, I have to stay strong because we’re still in October.

“It’s a tough blow, but I believe we can turn this around because there’s much of the season to go.

“Because of the confidence I have in this group, they will continue to grow and improve.”

“They’ve had to overcome some difficult circumstances, especially with injuries, but I think the team has the life for the rest of the season.”

Here are the potential replacements for the position of the Real Madrid head coach:

1) Arsene Wenger: It is not a secret that Wenger had received an offer from the Galacticos when he was at his peak with Arsenal, but the Frenchmen pledged his loyalties to the North-London club, where he spent 21 years.

2) Jose Mourinho: The manager is in heat at Manchester United, the win against Everton relieved the matters for the Portuguese coach but he is still one of the most successful managers in Europe and had a successful spell in Real Madrid in the past as well.

3) Antonio Conte: Former Chelsea manager, delivered the Premier League title and the FA cup in Stamford Bridge during his three-year stint in the club. He is the most likely candidate to replace Julen Lopetegui.

These are candidates emerging from strong rumours and we will soon see, who the replacement will be.
