The victory, built on a record-breaking batting display and disciplined bowling, kept India's semifinal hopes alive before they face West Indies in a high-stake game on March 1.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe's bowlers were put under immediate pressure by India's aggressive top order. Opener Abhishek Sharma, who had struggled in the tournament with three successive ducks earlier, made a strong comeback with a blazing 55 off just 30 balls, laced with 4 fours, 4 sixes. His explosive innings provided the early momentum, as he shared a 48-run opening stand with Sanju Samson (24).

Abhishek smashed towering sixes off pacers like Richard Ngarava and Tinotenda Maposa, which helped India race to 80/1 in the Powerplay. Zimbabwe's bowlers struggled throughout as skipper Sikandar Raza (1/29) was the most economical among the wicket-takers, but pacers like Blessing Muzarabani (1/43), Richard Ngarava (1/62), and Tinotenda Maposa (1/40) leaked runs heavily against India's relentless attack.
In reply, Zimbabwe played cautiously, a valiant effort from Brian Bennett wen tin vain. The opener was unbeaten at 97 off 59 balls, anchoring the innings with grit and some clean striking. He found support from skipper Sikandar Raza (31 off 21), but wickets kept falling at regular interval
Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball as he claimed 3/24 in his four overs, dismantling the middle order with clever variations and yorkers. The Indian attack, including contributions from others, restricted Zimbabwe to 184/6 in their 20 overs.
