India’s swimming star for the ongoing Rio Olympics 2016, Shivani Kataria and Sajan Prakash, failed to put up an impressive performance in their respective categories, as both the athletes failed to qualify for the semi-finals, thus crashing out of their respective events, on Day 3 at Olympic Aquatics Stadium in Rio de Janerio on Monday. Kataria, who was competing in the Women’s 200m freestyle, along side a couple of other competitors, finished second, while Prakash, who was competing in the Men’s 200m butterfly, along side four other competitors finished fourth, as he required the top spot finish to make sure of his spot in the semis. Rio Olympics 2016 LIVE Updates, Day 3

Kataria was beaten by Fiji’s Matelita Buadromo in Heat 1, while in Heat 2, it was Serbia’s Katarina Simonović finishes first, followed by Czech Republic’s Barbora Seemanovám, while FYR Macedonia’s Anastasia Bogdanovski finishes third. In Heat 3, Hong Kong’s Siobhan Bernadette Haughey finishes first, followed by Canada’s Katerine Savard on second, while Germany’s Annika Bruhn finishes third. However, in Heat 4, Italy’s Federica Pellegrini finishes first, followed by China’s Ai Yanhan, while Russia’s Veronika Popova finishes third. As for Prakash, he fell behind Sweden’s Simon Sjödin, followed by Slovenia’s Robert Žbogar, while Israel’s Gal Nevo finishes third. And in Heat 2, South Africa’s Chad le Clos finishes first, followed by Japan’s Masato Sakai on second, while Singapore’s Quah Zheng Wen finishes third.
