As the Rio Olympics 2016 comes to an end, sports followers from across the globe react on the social media platform Twitter. This year, it was Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro who played host to the biggest and oldest tournament to exist. The tournament got a kick start through a glamorous opening ceremony on August 5 at the iconic Maracana Stadium and with the closing ceremony at the same venue on Sunday, it came to a successful conclusion. As the colourful closing ceremony took place to draw the end, the spectators could not help reacting and they took Twitter to express their views. This year, USA leads the medal tally with 121 medals in total. Following USA are Great Britain and China who have 67 and 70 medals respectively. India won two medals this edition. The first came in as Sakshi Malik won the bronze in women’s 58 kg freestyle wrestling while the second came in as PV Sindhu won the silver in women’s singles of badminton. With the end of Rio Olympics, another wait for four years begin for the next Olympics to start, which be held by Tokyo in 2020.
