Coming into the match, there were lot of murmurs regarding the prospect of Roger playing against John, with huge focus on his new found weapon – SABR (Sneak Attack By Roger). But the match turned out to be much more than few shots and was actually a nervy test for both the players who displayed fine service games. Very few matches boast of equally matched services from both the players.

With all the three sets going till the last point, it was Federer who snapped Isner’s record and surprising run of 110 consecutive service wins at the US Open. With the first two sets going into the tie-breaker and Isner not dropping his service game, it took Federer a lot of patience to win the match against a tough nut like Isner. In the third set, Federer finally broke Isner to take the set 7-5 and match in the straight sets. Federer now leads Isner 3-0 in overall head-to-head career meetings.
