Roger Federer takes on Milos Raonic in the quarterfinal of the 2014 BNP Paribas Masters at the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy, in Paris on Friday. The match is scheduled to start at 8:00 pm IST and live telecast will be on Star Sports 2. Free Live streaming will be available on Star Sports’ official website while real-time score updates and additional live streaming links will be available on ATP’s official website .
The 17-time Grand Slam champion remains on track to reclaim his number one spot from Novak Djokovic and progressed into the quarterfinal with a straight set victory over qualifier Lucas Pouille, 6-4, 6-4, taking nearly 75 minutes; in what was their first meeting in all competitions.
The Swiss maestro will now vie for a place in the last four of Paris Masters against Milos Raonic, who can only qualify for the upcoming Barclays ATP World Tour Finals if he wins the title here. The 23-year-old sent Roberto Bautista Agut packing, 7-5, 7-6 (7), in what was a hard fought battle that lasted a little less than 105 minutes.
Federer and Raonic have faced each other six times in the past and the Canadian has never managed to beat the 33-year-old; that includes the two semi-final clashes at the Cincinnati Masters and the Wimbledon, earlier this year. The current world number two, who has won the title in Paris in 2009 will be keen to beat the defending champion and go into the tour finals with a third Masters title this year.
