He won the quarter final match 4-6, 7-6 (10), 7-5 to set up an encounter with the 17-time grand slam champion. Meanwhile, Federer had it easy against Tomas Berdych whom he defeated in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 to extend his head-to-head record to 13-6 over the Czech player.
