Indian cricket team’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma took to social media to troll wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in what was a light-banter exchange between the two cricketers. Chahal has displayed commendable form lately, and he happens to be using a plain, sponsorless bat in the Instagram story post by the ‘Hitman’.
Aiming a slight dig at Yuzvi, Rohit wrote on his Insta story, “Plain bat? But I thought by now you could get a sponsor for your bat after than knock against New Zealand.”
In the recently concluded series against Australia and New Zealand, Yuzvendra displayed a good form in the limited over formats. In the third One Day International (ODI) against Australia, Chahal recorded his career-best display by taking six for 42, in what was a historic triumph for the Men in Blue.
With the World Cup around the corner later this year, every individual would like to make the most of the chances, as there is stiff competition for places for the marquee tournament. Chahal, for example, would like to be among the top two spinners ahead of the World Cup.
India will now tour New Zealand for a limited-overs series where the Men in Blue will play five ODIs and three T20Is. Like in Australia, India would look to try new combination-permutations ahead of the big tournament.
