Young Rishabh Pant may not have had the best day on the park during the Delhi decider against Australia, but the wicketkeeper sure impressed India opener, Rohit Sharma. During the match at Feroz Shah Kotla, Pant was spotted doing WWE star Shawn Michaels signature ‘kip-up’ move. It is a move where someone transitions from a supine, and less commonly, a prone position, to a standing position. It requires a lot of practice and skill. It also goes to show his flexibility. Pant did it during the 48th over of the match and Rohit Sharma who was stationed close to him could not keep a lid over his emotions as he gave a wry smile.
Here is the video:
This is not the first time Pant has flaunted the move on a cricket field, he did it earlier in Australia during the Sydney Test.
Meanwhile, India lost the match by 35 runs which meant Australia won the five-match series 3-2 as Pant failed with the bat scoring 16 runs.
It was a great opportunity for Pant to impress the selectors in Dhoni’s absence and seal a World Cup spot for himself. He gets picked or not remains to be seen as he has one last chance to impress the selectors in the upcoming season of IPL. Pant will be a part of the new-look Delhi Capitals.
It was also the first time India lost an ODI bilateral series at home under Virat Kohli’s leadership. Usman Khawaja bagged the Man of the Series and Match for his 100 in the decider. He amassed 383 runs in the recently concluded series.
