Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid was the latest entrant into the ICC Hall of Fame. Dravid, who batted for almost his entire career at the number 3 spot, also became the fifth Indian to achieve the feat after Sunil Gavaskar, Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble.

Former and present cricketers lavished praise on the legend. And the latest to join the bandwagon is the former colleague of Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar.

Here is Tendulkar’s golden congratulatory message for his old colleague.

Earlier, describing it as a great honour and privilege, Dravid, in his acceptance speech, said ” I am thankful to the ICC for giving me this honour. It is a privilege to be among a group of people I have looked up to and I have admired as a young man growing up in the journey as a cricketer. I’d love to be able to thank so many people who have made it possible for me to have a career in the sport and to fulfil my dreams.”

“My parents, my family, my two kids, my so many friends, colleagues that I have played with, and played against that enriched my game. My many coaches right from the time I was in school and the coaches I have played for in India have really helped me to develop as a cricketer. I would not be here if not for support and love that they have given me and I’m truly grateful and thankful for it,” he added.

The Master Blaster is the highest run-maker and century scorer in Tests and ODI’s, but surprisingly his name does not feature in that list. Tendulkar is not a part of the coveted Hall of Fame as his retirement from international cricket has still not passed five years, the benchmark set by the ICC to induct a player in the coveted list.

Dravid is currently the coach of India A and India U-19. The U-19 India team led by Prithvi Shaw and mentored by Dravid clinched the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup as well.
