India won by 9 wickets against New Zealand in the Blind T20 World Cup match played on 7th February at KIIT stadium in Bhubaneswar. Odia boys Sukhram Majhi and Iqbal Jafar played a significant role in the victory with the bat and ball respectively.

New Zealand elected to bat first but they were restricted to a meagre 136 for 6 by defending champions India with only BD Wilson’s knock of 52 being the major individual contribution. However, Odia bowler Iqbal Jafar clinched two wickets of which one was with the help of Majhi who stumped RJ Gilmore on Jafar’s delivery.

Chasing 137 for a win, India cruised to the victory as opener Majhi hit a 56 not out along with captain Ajay Reddy’s 75 to help India score 140 in just 9 overs to win the match.

Given their outstanding performance, Sachin Tendulkar praised the Indian team and tweeted:

This was the seventh victory and the fifth consecutive win for Indian side in the Blind T20 World Cup. Till now India is dominating in the tournament and they have defeated big teams like South Africa, Sri Lanka and Australia, previously in this Blind T20 World Cup.

The Indian team is scheduled to play its next match against Nepal at Vijayawada on Wednesday.
