New Delhi: The second and final Test match of the India-West Indies series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 10. Young batsman Sai Sudarshan will be looking to perform well in this match, as he has disappointed so far at number 3. Sudarshan was dismissed for just 7 runs in the first Test, and his performance remained quiet during the England tour as well.
Indian team assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has issued a warning to Sudarshan. Sudarshan doesn’t have much time left to prove himself. He also stated that the team management has confidence in him, but there is stiff competition for a place in the Indian Test team.
Citing the example of Karun Nair, he explained that Nair had the opportunity to play four Test matches during the England tour but was dropped from the team due to poor performance. This example also serves as a lesson for Sudarshan about the importance of consistent performance.
Doeschate stated in a press conference that several players are vying for the No. 3 spot. He explained that Sudarshan needs to understand that a spot in the team isn’t guaranteed, and every player is fighting for their place. Sudarshan’s dismissal in the first Test may have been a strategic mistake, but the team management still has faith in him.
Doeschate said, “We want him to focus on his natural game. We know he’s a great batsman. Now he needs to score runs and prove he deserves a place in the team. There’s no need to panic right now, especially when the team is winning.”
