Ace tennis star Sania Mirza and badminton star Saina Nehwal joined India captain Virat Kohli in his latest campaign where he urged sports icons from the country to root for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led women’s cricket team. The sports icons were candid enough to pose for a picture with their national jerseys in support of the women in blue who are having a dream run at the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup. The Harmanpreet-led side has already qualified for the semi-finals with a comfortable 52-run win over their Irish counterparts. Nehwal took to Twitter to show support and her post read, “#JerseyKnowsNoGenderI’m going to be cheering Team India on! @MirzaSania @klrahul11 @HimaDas8 and each one of you – it’s time to wear your jerseys or our blue tonight, strike the pose and show your support. Great initiative by @Imvkohli and @Uber_India @ICC #WT20.”

Sania Mirza, who turned 32 yesterday also did the same to support the women in blue. Her post read, “I’m going to be cheering Team India on! @MangteC, @itsSSR, @hardikpandya7 and each one of you – it’s time to wear your jerseys or our blue tonight, strike the pose and show your support. Great initiative by @Imvkohli and @Uber_India @ICC #WT20 @ImVkohli.”

Meanwhile, India women have played three matches and are still unbeaten. They will now lock horns with their Australian counterparts in what is pitted to be a mouthwatering clash but it will be a dead rubber and that may force teams to try out their bench strength.
