The Indian Premier League has come to its conclusion as Mumbai Indians (MI) became a record four-time champion after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a run at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. The dramatic encounter was closely fought and went on till the decisive final ball.
Pacer Lasith Malinga bowled a near-perfect final over to guide Mumbai Indians to a memorable victory, courtesy of which, Mumbai became the first team to clinch the coveted IPL title for the fourth time in the history of the league.
After Shane Watson’s magnificent knock of 80 (59 balls) lashed out with 8 boundaries and 4 maximums, Malinga, who had gone for 20 in his previous over, gave away only 7 in the final over of the season to seal a sensational victory for the ‘men in blue and gold’.
The on-field events was very captivating but one of the off-field events that captured the attention of the fans was commentators Sanjay Manjrekar’s commentary, which fans felt were biased towards Mumbai. In the match, he made a suggestion towards Quinton de Kock, advising that he should be cautious.
This did not go down well with the Chennai Super Kings fans and they took to Twitter to troll Manjrekar:
