India scored 168 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Opener Abhishek Sharma played an impressive innings to help the team. Even though India started well, the middle batsmen struggled, giving Bangladesh a chance to get back into the match.

Why was Sanju Samson pushed to No.8 in the batting line-up?

Sanju Samson, who was picked in the playing XI as a specialist wicketkeeper and batter, was not sent out to bat even after India lost several wickets. Instead, the team management changed the batting order, which didn’t allow Sanju to use his finishing skills. The reshuffle began with Shivam Dube being sent in at number 3, and players like Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya were sent ahead of Samson.

Although Sanju struggled a bit in the match against Pakistan—scoring only 13 from 17 balls—dropping him down the order still seemed like a puzzling choice. Axar Patel, who batted at number 7, couldn’t get going and scored at a slow pace, with a strike rate below 70. India ended up 25–35 runs short of what was expected after Abhishek Sharma’s explosive start, and leaving Sanju out of the main batting lineup might turn out to be a costly mistake.

What happened in the match?

Abhishek was strong against the bowlers from the start, scoring 75 runs from only 37 balls, including six fours and five sixes. The left-handed batsman gave India a great start, hitting many boundaries and reaching fifty quickly. He was run out in the 11th over after a confusion with Hardik Pandya.

After a strong start, India’s batting became inconsistent. Shubman Gill played a quick knock of 29 from 19 balls but got out while trying to speed up the scoring. In a surprising move, Shivam Dube was sent in at number 3 ahead of Sanju Samson, but the decision didn’t work as Dube was dismissed for just 2 runs.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav also continued to struggle, scoring only 5 runs from 11 balls before getting out to Mustafizur Rahman. Tilak Varma couldn’t make the most of his start either, which meant India had to rely on Hardik Pandya to push the score in the final overs.
