London, Sept 19 Sebastian Vettel ended Mercedes’ dominance in qualifying by securing the first pole position for Ferrari at the Singapore Grand Prix. Vettel, the four-time world champion, was one and a half seconds quicker than reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, who will be fifth on the grid.
Red Bull and Ferrari’s resurgence was clearly evident as Daniel Ricciardo finished second ahead of Vettel’s team mate Kimi Raikkonen. Daniil Kvyit was the fourth quickest, the Guardian reported. Hamilton, who had started from pole in 11 of the previous 12 races this season, struggled throughout the practice sessions, with team mate Nico Rosberg finishing at sixth spot. Hamilton heads into Sunday’s showdown holding a 53-point lead over his nearest challenger Rosberg in the drivers’ championship table.
