In August this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had banned girlfriends and wives from touring with the players during the Sri Lanka series. Certainly, some of the cricketers weren’t too happy with the move. However, if Indian cricketers were getting too bothered by the diktat of girlfriends/wives not being allowed to stay with them, they would be happy knowing what happened to former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff.
Freddie, as he is popularly known, made a startling revelation in his to-be published autobiography where he said that excessive intake of Viagra cost him an innings of a Test match. “I took three Viagra one night and didn’t realise how long they lasted. Trying to bat the next day in that state was not easy. I was run out, simply because I couldn’t move. I could only hop,” Flintoff was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“It started with an article my ex sold to the News of the World. It wasn’t very complimentary about my ‘performance’, if you get my meaning. So I decided I had to put that myth to bed even though I was in the middle of a Test match,” he added.
However, thinking back about the incident the former English captain didn’t think it was worth it. “It wasn’t worth it, either. Complete waste of time,” he concluded.
