Mumbai, Sep 21:  NCP chief Sharad Pawar tonight condoled the demise of BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya, saying he will always be remembered as the first person from a third world country to hold the office of ICC. “I am deeply saddened to know about the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya. He will always be remembered as the first person from a third world country to hold the office of the International Cricket Council (ICC), which is the highest governing body of world cricket,” Pawar said. “He made BCCI a powerful and influential cricket body in the field of sports. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the NCP chief said.

From Srinivasan to Modi, Pawar to Manohar, whether they liked or disliked Dalmiya, one thing they knew was his ability to bring votes to the table. Even during his final days a administrator, he enjoyed a lot of support from the eastern zone units. However his third term as the president that started from March 2 this year was mostly marred by his ill-health and talks of not being able to conduct meetings properly. Most of the meetings were held in Kolkata but it was basically secretary Anurag Thakur, who was calling the shots. Jagmohan Dalmiya might have passed away but he had certainly left an ever-lasting legacy in Indian and world cricket administration.
