New Delhi: In the second Test match between India and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Shubman Gill’s Team India beat England by 336 runs as they created history on this ground by winning for the first time on this soil. How did Team India’s bowlers perform?

The Indian team’s bowlers bowled brilliantly in the second innings as well and registered a historic win by bowling out England for 271 runs. Akash Deep Singh played a key role in India’s victory by opening the innings for the Indian team.

How did Akash Deep perform?

Star bowler Akash Deep (6/99) picked up his maiden five-for in Tests. He rocked England early, striking twice in a rain-delayed morning session. He returned after lunch to deliver the decisive blow, dismissing Jamie Smith (88), who was the only England batter to show fight in an otherwise underwhelming batting performance by the hosts.

Why was the match delayed on day 5?

The fifth day’s play started late due to rain, but Akash Deep gave England two early blows. After this, Ben Stokes along with Jamie Smith, took control of the innings and shared a 70-run partnership for the sixth wicket. This partnership was broken by Washington Sundar by dismissing Stokes. Lunch break was announced as soon as Stokes’ wicket fell. However, in the second session, India took the remaining four wickets and ended the match. For India, fast bowler Akash Deep gave a career-best performance and took six wickets in the second innings. Akash had taken four wickets in the first innings. Apart from Akash, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar got one wicket each.
