New Delhi: Following her second consecutive hundred against South Africa, Smriti Mandhana added another feather in her cap when the India opener dismissed Sune Luus for her maiden international wicket during the second ODI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Coming into the attack in the 14th over, Mandhana struck on her second ball of the match and wheeled away in celebration.

Luus, a former South African captain, was batting on 12 off 11 balls when Mandhana came into attack. Bowling, right-handed, Mandhana pitched a length ball wide outside off. Luus tried to cut short the ball but the extra bounce did the job for Mandhana as the South African got a thick edge behind to Richa Ghosh. Mandhana’s joy knew no bounds as she wheeled away in celebration.

Earlier, riding on Mandhana’s 136 and captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 103, India posted 325/3 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa fell short by four runs despite superb centuries by captain Laura Wolvaardt (135 not out off 135 balls) and Marizanne Kapp (114). With this win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. For India, Pooja Vastrakar (2/54) and Deepti Sharma (2/56) were the most successful bowlers.
