South Africa chased down the target of 180 set by England comfortably, with Heinrich Klaasen and Rassie van der Dussen both scoring half-centuries. South Africa have secured a spot in the Champions Trophy semi-finals after a brilliant bowling performance against England.

Thanks to Marco Jansen’s three wickets in the powerplay, South Africa restricted England to 179 all out, the lowest total in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Afghanistan required England to win by 207 runs to advance to the semi-finals, but they have now missed out. England’s captain, Jos Buttler – leading his country for the final time – won the toss and chose to bat first against South Africa in the Group B match on Saturday in Karachi. The Proteas were led by Aiden Markram after regular captain Temba Bavuma was rested due to illness, but Markram was also forced to leave the field due to injury.

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Jofra Archer is back into the attack, with three overs remaining, and it appears that Buttler plans to use them now. It makes sense, as there’s no point in saving his overs for later in the day, since the match is unlikely to last more than 30-35 overs. As we update, Henrich Klassen has reached his half-century, hitting a couple of exquisite back-foot drives for boundaries. South Africa now need just 60 more runs. They’re handling the chase very well. We’ve seen South Africa get nervous in similar situations before, but today they are maintaining their composure.

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: We’ve reached the water break, and aside from Archer, England hasn’t offered much that could trouble South Africa. While Archer took a couple of wickets, he lacked support from the other end. Jamie Overton has bowled a couple of overs since coming on, but he too hasn’t looked at his best. Klassen and Van Der Dussen seem comfortable with the pace of the pitch now, and their partnership is building steadily. After the break, England might turn to spin. Adil Rashid is a very attacking bowler for England, and despite the challenges on this subcontinent tour, Rashid has been outstanding with the ball.

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Since arriving in the subcontinent, England has struggled with taking wickets with the new ball and losing wickets early. Except for the match against Afghanistan, their performance in the first powerplay has been disappointing. As we update, Archer dismisses Rickelton with a stunning yorker. The ball before, Rickelton had driven one through the point, but Archer bounced back strongly. South Africa has now lost their second wicket in the Powerplay. If England can pick up one more wicket before the first 10 overs, we might have an exciting game on our hands. Meanwhile, Henrich Klassen is walking out to the crease.

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Jofra Archer has taken the first wicket here. Tristian Stubbs attempted to guide the ball to third man but ended up dragging it onto the stumps, departing for a duck. It was a promising chance for him to score runs, but it wasn’t meant to be. The pitch appears to have become slower as the innings progressed into the afternoon, and it still seems to be playing a bit sluggish. With plenty of sunlight around, it’s unlikely that England will face any dew issues today. The English bowlers have something to work with here.

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The lowest total in this Champions Trophy, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time for England—in Buttler’s final game as white-ball captain. Mulder dismisses Adil Rashid, bringing an end to a lackluster batting display. A length delivery outside off, Rashid attempts to steer it but gets a faint edge through to Klaasen. A meek dismissal sums up England’s struggles as they bow out with the bat in CT 2025. Adil Rashid c Klaasen b Mulder 2(9).

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Ngidi to Buttler, out Caught by Maharaj!! A frustrating stay at the crease ends for Buttler. He never looked comfortable, struggling to find rhythm throughout his 43-ball knock. This was a full delivery, possibly a slower off-cutter outside off. Buttler attempts a drive but ends up chipping it off the inside half straight to mid-off, where Maharaj takes an easy catch. With his dismissal, England’s hopes take another massive hit, and it will be a challenge for them to bat out the remaining overs. Buttler c Maharaj b Ngidi 21(43).

South Africa vs England Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Drinks! South Africa tighten their grip on the game with consistent wickets. Their bowlers have been spot on with line and length, while their fielders have taken some stunning catches. England, struggling from the first over, continue their batting woes from the tournament. With seven down, Jos Buttler remains their last hope. How much can they add from here?
