South Africa vs Pakistan 1st Test: During lunch of the ongoing Boxing Day Test between South Africa and Pakistan, legendary Pacer Shaun Pollock gifts a bottle of Champagne, with a message written on it to Dale Steyn for surpassing him to become the most successful bowler ever for South Africa. Steyn got his 422nd in his 89th Test, whereas Pollock took 108 Tests to get there. The record-breaking wicket came in form of Fakhar Zaman for 12 runs.

The speedster is at 11th place in the overall list of Test cricket’s most successful bowlers. Only Jame Anderson (565) and Stuart Broad (433) are ahead of him, among the active bowlers. Pollock claimed 421 wickets in 108 Test matches at an average of 23.11 while striking every 57.8 deliveries.

The message reads, “Congrats on your record! It’s been so well deserved and you’ve been absolutely brilliant for so many years…422 done…Here is to many more… Well Done”. See Pic:

Pakistan were 76/4  at lunch after winning the toss and batting on a well-grassed pitch on a hot day. Steyn and fellow fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier all took wickets. Azhar Ali, one of only three Pakistanis with previous Test experience in South Africa, was unbeaten on 31 at the interval. Rabada struck first, trapping Imam-ul-Haq leg before wicket for nought with a full delivery in the second over. The batsman wasted a review of a decision from umpire Bruce Oxenford which never looked in doubt.

Brief Score:

At lunch of Day 1, Pakistan-76/4. With Azhar Ali (31 off 59) and Babar Azam (6 off 19) on the crease. This surely is a gesture Steyn will treasure for his entire life to get it from the person whose record he broke.
