South Africa vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I: Eyebrows were raised when Faf de Plessis decided to give the ball to Imran Tahir in the Super Over with 15 runs to defend. But, Imran Tahir did not disappoint as he conceded merely five runs in the Super Over to help South Africa beat Sri Lanka and take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series. As expected Thisara Perera walked out to take the six balls and giving him company was Avishka Fernando. Perera wanted to face the bulk of the six balls and hence took strike. Tahir had a plan that was to not stay away from Perera’s hitting arc and force him to hit the ball to a newer territory.

Here is Tahir’s Super Over:

Earlier, Tahir conceded 21 runs from his four overs quota and he picked up one wicket. Apart from a couple of wides, the Super Over was brilliant. Had it not come off, it would have made Du Plessis’ decision look stupid.
