Sri Lanka came from a comprehensive win over Zimbabwe, but confident South Africa are brimming with confidence after defeating Australia in their own den.  As the year mark no big T20I tournament, this series has little significance to the fans, but South Africa will not leave an inch to the Sri Lankan side as they would like to continue with their dominating form.

The three-match T20I series will be played in five days. The series will observe a new-look South African team. The team is comprised of only four members that played the World T20 in India last year. However, rest of the players has little experience in international cricket. Cricket South Africa has taken this decision considering the future of their team. Also read- (BCCI vs Lodha: Supreme Court questions names of proposed BCCI administrators)

Most of the young players got the reward for their superb performance in the domestic T20 tournament for the last two years. Veteran like Heino Kuhn, who has played professional cricket for more than a decade, will play alongside the rookie like Lungi Nagidi, who at 20 featured in two franchise based T20 finals.

In comparison to the South African team, Sri Lankan squad has depth as they have more familiar warriors. Lasith Malinga’s injury leaves Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep to carry the seam bowling responsibilities along with recalled players Nuwan Kulasekara and Isuru Udana.
