Hello and welcome to the Live Updates of the Euro 2016 match between Spain and Czech Republic here. For some, this may be a David vs Goliath battle while there are many who think that the Spanish juggernaut have lost some of their aura that set them apart from the rest of the teams during 2008-12, a period where they won Two European Championships and a World Cup. Off-field issues have plagued Spain just 48 hours before the start of the tournament but the side has too much class, too many winners and too much mental fortitude, one might assume to deal with the current state of affairs. Full Time It might look like a smash and grab win for the champions but anyone who watched this game knows that it was anything but. Outstanding endurance from Spain. As for Czech, they were better than what many gave them credit for. They have what it takes to get to the knockout stages of the tournament.
87′ SPA 1-0 CZE (Gerard Pique) Andres Iniesta delivers a superb ball into the area and Gerard Pique runs past the defense to head the ball home.
Pedro comes on to replace Nolito
78′ Aduriz with the header and it was from a beautiful ball from Sergio Ramos, the striker can’t meet the header properly
Thomas Necid comes off, David Lafata on
72′ Rocisky is furious that the referee didn’t wave for a foul. Lovely ball chipped in on the left by Nolito, great layoff by Iniesta, Silva plays a dummy then shoots on goal but it is just wide
69‘ That should have been Spain’s first goal but the ball goes out for a corner! Lovely ball chipped in by Silva, Alba was through but it bounces off the fullback’s shin and goes out
Fabregas comes off and is replaced by Thiago Alcantara
66′ Spain are having plenty of possession again but as we saw in the first half, there is very little cutting-edge football in the final third. Picking out the final pass seems to be an arduous deal.
Used to enjoy watching #ESP but they don't have any pace going forward. Dominating, but still my flops for the tournament. #EURO2016
