“I won’t be bowling in this series. Hope to start bowling in the nets and see how I feel,” said Mathews who has taken 114 wickets in 196 ODIs. Also Read - Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal Return as Sri Lanka Announce 16-Member Test Squad For Two Match Series in Pakistan

Sri Lanka would be going into the series with a lot of confidence as they whitewashed South Africa in the two-match Test series. And Mathews expects his team to continue with the Test form and to show new signs of recovery after a disastrous 2017.

“We would like to play better cricket than what we have been doing in limited overs,” Mathews said. “We started very well in the Test series, and hope we can continue with the momentum in the ODIs,” he added.

The five-match ODI series ends at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo on August 12. A one-off T20 is to be played in Colombo on August 14.
