New Delhi: Star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that dismissing South Africa’s all-rounder Marco Jansen through ‘Mankad’ would be easy.

Ashwin lauded Jansen’s display in the ongoing Test against India, sharing his thought on X, “He is a serious talent, long levers giving him an amazing bat swing and getting better by the day with the ball.”

In response, a user asked Ashwin, “So what you’re saying is his ‘long levers’ are very hard to Mankad? Noted.” To which Ashwin responded: “It’s easier to.”

Ashwin has earlier dismissed RR batter Jos Buttler via a ‘Mankad’

Ashwin had earlier dismissed Rajasthan Royals batter Jos Buttler through ‘Mankad’ in a 2019 IPL match while representing Punjab Kings.

Named after the legendary Vinoo Mankad, who first executed it in 1947 against Australia. ‘Mankading’ refers to a bowler dismissing a non-striker by removing the bails while the batsman is outside the crease during delivery.

South Africa’s all-rounder Marco Jansen played a brilliant knock of 93 on day 2 of the ongoing second Test of the two-match series at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, to help the Proteas reach the massive total of 489.

Jansen delivered a sensational performance on Day 3

On Day 3 of the Test on Monday, Jansen delivered a sensational performance that dismantled the Indian batting order. He finished with figures of 6/48, giving South Africa full control of the match and earning a spot on several elite statistical lists.

Meanwhile, India managed to score 201 runs, falling 288 runs behind in their first innings but South Africa chose not to enforce the follow-on and opted to bat again on Day 3 in Guwahati.

Having won the first Test in Kolkata, South Africa are edging closer to their first series victory in India since Hansie Cronj’s team achieved the feat in 2000.
