New Delhi: Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has picked his all-time India T20I playing XI. The tournament will begin in the UAE on September 9. Team India will play their first match against hosts UAE on September 10, while the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash will take place on September 14. This time, Suryakumar Yadav is leading the Indian team, with Shubman Gill as his deputy.

Karthik’s chosen opening pair

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Karthik revealed that his all-time team will have Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma as openers, while Virat Kohli will bat at number 3.

The batting powerhouse

Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, and Hardik Pandya have been included at numbers 4, 5, and 6 respectively. Karthik described these players as the batting powerhouse of the team.

Captain Dhoni and all-round support

MS Dhoni has been given the captaincy and wicketkeeping responsibilities. Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy have been selected in the spin department.

The pace bowling duo

Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been included in the bowling attack. Karthik didn’t overlook Bhuvneshwar, describing him as an important player for the team.

No place for Shubman Gill

Surprisingly, there was no place for current vice-captain Shubman Gill in Karthik’s team. Gill is currently in excellent form, but Karthik left him out.
