India on Friday lost 0-1 to Malaysia after a Shahril Saabah goal downed the men in blue in the 26th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2017.

India thus will not play in the gold medal match which will be contested between Australia and Britain. India will take on New Zealand for third-fourth place match.

India have 7 points after 5 matches just like New Zealand.

India could not knit passes during the match. At the end of the first quarter, India-Malaysia were still 0-0. Sadly, there were no shots on target by either teams.

Malaysia produced a solid defensive play as India looked patchy and eventually lost 0-1 with a goal in the fourth quarter.
