India walk the talk and in some style as Indian Air Force (IAF) avenged the martyrdom of 40+ soldiers in Pulwama by carrying out one of the deadliest air strikes in recent history. IAF jets crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) terror camps in Pakistan. The air strike was carried out in Balakot sector at 3.30 am. As per the sources, ten Mirage 2000 aircraft dropped 1,000 kg bombs on terrorist camps across the LoC. It is believed that IAF used laser-guided bombs in the air strike that lasted for 21 minutes. As per an initial estimate, around 300 terrorists are believed to have been killed in the airstrike. Hailing IAF’s brilliant action, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also took to Twitter to post a congratulatory message hailing country’s forces. India carried out a non-military, pre-emptive strike on terror outfit JeM, said Foreign Secretary VK Gokhale. Sachin joined the nation in hailing the Indian Air Force and wrote, “Our niceness should never be comprehended as our weakness. I salute the IAF, Jai Hind.”
Earlier, several other Indian cricketers from Virender Sehwag to Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane also congratulated IAF on the successful operation and the befitting reply to terrorists.
The strike by the Indian forces comes in less than two weeks after the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir by the Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM where 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said on Twitter: “Wow, if this is true this was not a small strike by any stretch of imagination but will wait for official word, should any be forthcoming.”
On Tuesday, Pakistan Major General Asif Ghafoor alleged that the Indian Air Force (IAF) had violated the Line of Control (LoC).
“Indian aircrafts intruded from Muzafarabad sector. Facing timely and effective response from Pakistan Air Force released payload in haste while escaping which fell near Balakot. No casualties or damage,” Ghafoor tweeted.
