New Delhi: Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has closely observed the play of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He has highly praised both batsmen’s ability to perform in both domestic and overseas conditions, especially in Australia. Shastri believes that continuing their careers will not affect their legacy.
Shastri said, “Their contribution isn’t just for two or three years. This contribution spans a decade, and in Virat’s case, a decade and a half. It’s immense and people won’t forget it. Both of them have faced the best bowlers in the world. That’s special. Their legacy will remain forever, whether they stop playing tomorrow or later.”
In the past 18 months, Virat and Rohit have retired from Test and T20 Internationals. Now, ODI cricket is the only format they play for India. Both returned to international cricket for the first time since the ICC Champions Trophy Final, playing against Australia in Perth on Sunday.
