Tottenham Hotspur have begun their current campaign on a high under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, with four out of four wins in all competitions. They have scored 10 goals in the process and conceded only one that too away at AEL Limassol in the first leg of the Europa League.
The north London club have looked in fine form with defender Eric Dier and winger Nacer Chadli racing ahead as the top scorers in the Premier League with two goals each to their names. After a season marred by multiple injuries, Erik Lamela appears to have finally settled in, having started both league matches and grabbing two assists in total.
Pochettino will be aiming to maintain his side’s winning record intact by handing Liverpool their second straight defeat. But the Reds will not be coming to White Hart Lane with any intention to allow the home crowd three easy points.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had whacked a total of nine goals against last season against their Sunday’s opponent which included a 5-0 victory at White Hart Lane last December. The Northern Irishman guided his side to a second place finish in the league table and will be attempting to go one better, given that he has added eight new players for this season.
The Merseyside club have some injury concerns for this fixture but there are adequate replacements available at Rodgers’ disposal. The 41-year-old Northern Irishman will be managing his 100th competitive fixture as Liverpool manager and will be aiming to mark the milestone with all three points.
