Over 3,500 entries from across the country in different sections of eight categories have been received for the first Indian Table Tennis Marathon 2019, to be held between May 1 and 5 in the capital. The Table Tennis Marathon has the blessing of the Delhi State Table Tennis Association as well as the Table Tennis Federation of India. The marathon, a first of its kind and organized by the Table Tennis Foundation and powered by STAG, carries prizes worth more than Rs7.5 lakhs in cash and kind and is aimed at creating a Guinness record for the largest participation ever with top paddlers of the country likely to be competing.

The top eight paddlers in each of the categories will also gain as they will carry home decent prize money and a trophy. The TTF has been able to rope in a number of sponsors and associates like ONGC, IGL, IOCL, THE HINDU, STAG and a few more and with entries pouring in from across the nation, the event looks to get its name etched in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The organizers, looking at large participation, have also encouraged school students of all states with free entries, provided they come through the school concerned. Over and above, all interested paddlers can also compete in their respective categories with a nominal fee of Rs 700 per event. TTF, not limiting the ITTM to regular paddlers, have also included three categories of veterans’ participation with attractive prize money offers.
