One-time champions U Mumba defeated Haryana Steelers by 29-28 margin in Hyderabad on Sunday. Haryana’s Surender Nada was announced ‘Player of the Match’. He scored five points for the Steelers.
This was a tight-fought match where U Mumba, who lost their last match to Puneri Paltan, won the match by one point.
After winning the toss U Mumba won the first point of the match but no team managed to hold a big lead in the first half. In the dying minutes of the first half, the game has changed as Haryana held their lead for five minutes 17-12 before U Mumba earned two points from super tackle to reduce the lead to 14-19. The break has worked for U Mumba as they have earned 13 points in a row to earn the lead in the match in a dramatic turn in the match. From 22-20 Mumbai showed their great all-round skills to hold their lead till the final whistle of the match. Though Vikash Khaldola (6 points), Wazir Singh (6 points) and Sandeep Nada (5 points) have tried hard to alter the result of the match but that was not enough to win the match. Finally, Steelers lost the match 28-29.
