Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Mumbai were up against Hyderabad in the ongoing Vijay Hazare tournament at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Representing Mumbai, Rohit Sharma claimed a controversial catch- replays indicated that the ball had touched the ground for a split second. After grasping the catch, Rohit soft-signaled ‘out’ to the umpire, who seemingly took the skipper’s word on it and dispatched Hyderabad batsman Bavanaka Sandeep. Also Read - IPL Auction Highlights: RPSG Group Takes Lucknow with 7000 Crore Bid, CVC Capital Bags Ahmedabad

The controversial episode transpired in the 19th over of the match when left-arm spinner Shams Mulani was bowling to Sandeep. Sandeep looked to cut the ball but found only the outside edge and Rohit did the rest. The batsman looking helpless stood his ground but the decision stood. Sandeep was on 29 when this happened. During the Mumbai vs Bihar match, a fan breached the security to get up close to Rohit Sharma and kiss him. The fan touched his feet as well. Meanwhile, Rohit’s wife Ritika and Yuzvendra Chahal seem to have had a hilarious Insta convo.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma led India to their seventh Asia Cup crown in the absence of regular captain Virat Kohli. Kohli was given rest by the BCCI after a rigorous three-month long UK tour.

Rohit, on the other hand, has been in ominous form in the limited overs format and is among the best batsman in the world currently. He is No 2 in the ICC rankings, whereas Kohli is at No 1.

After India blanked the Windies 2-0 in the Tests, Rohit took to Twitter to congratulate the team.

Rohit has been the vice-captain in the ODI squad and a regular in the mix as a specialist limited-overs opener. He will soon be in action against the touring Windies side in the upcoming ODI series. The first ODI is set to take place on October 21.
