New Delhi: Amid the rumours that Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma are planning to tie the knot in Italy soon, the Adelaide Oval in Australia, a ground where Kohli has proved his mettle time and again, has offered to host the marriage of the celebrated couple.
Andrew Daniels, CEO of the venue, spoke to a Hindustan Times, “We would be thrilled to host Virat and Anushka’s wedding at Adelaide Oval. How fantastic would it be for Virat to create more happy memories here, considering his outstanding playing history at the Oval. ”
“With 26 purpose-built function spaces to choose from, combined with a showcase of South Australia’s finest food and wine it would be an unforgettable day for the future Mr and Mrs Kohli and their guests,” he added.
There are reports that the Virat-Anushka, who dated for over four years now, will tie the knot at a private ceremony in Milan on December 12. However, Anushka’s spokesperson denied it.
Nevertheless, marrying at Oval is definitely an exciting offer for Virat, as he has an incredible record at the venue, scoring 3 Test hundreds and World Cup century against arch-rivals Pakistan in 2015.
The Delhi batsman scored double century the last time India played a Test in Adelaide. Considering the number of runs Virat has scored at the iconic stadium, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni even said that a stand in the stadium might be named after Kohli.
