Instagram on Thursday announced the ‘Instagrammers of the year 2019 awards’ and for the second time in a row, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli has won the ‘most engaging account’ on the social media handle. The 30-year-old is one of the most popular cricketers in the world and is also looked upon by his followers for his fitness, which is a benchmark for all aspiring sportspersons and fitness enthusiasts.

2018 was a remarkable year for Kohli. Following his stellar performances throughout the year, he also scripted history to clinch three prestigious ICC awards – the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards following his extraordinary outings, becoming the first ever cricketer to achieve this accolade.

Social media platform Instagram is today the most popular photo-sharing app. Ranging from celebrities to notable world leaders, most have their account on the app. For the second year on a row, Instagram have announced awards for its users which include Most Followed, Engaged Account of the Year, Storyteller of the year, Rising Star of the year, Fashion, Food and Entertainment accounts of the year.

According to Instagram, the winners of these awards have displayed a strong sense of visual storytelling abilities and built a strong community using the unique features on the app like feed, Live, Stories and IGTV.
