Known to wear his heart on his sleeves, India cricket captain Virat Kohli has once again expressed his strong sentiments and passion for the motherland with his latest Twitter post. Kohli finally broke his silence on the comeback of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman with a heart-melting post on his official Twitter account. Abhinandan Varthaman, the IAF pilot held captive by Pakistan for two days, reached India on Friday evening. He was received by a delegation of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Wagah Border.

Showing his respect and gratitude toward IAF pilot, the 30-year old openly lauded Abhinandan’s bravery, effort, and courage. Kohli shared a sketch of Wing Commander and wrote, “Real hero. I bow down to you. Jai Hind!”

Abhinandan, who had shot down a Pakistani fighter jet before his plane went down over the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday during the first aerial encounter between the countries in nearly half a century. He was captured by Pakistan army before Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced his release as a “peace gesture”, signalling the easing of tension between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad had completed the travel documentation of IAF pilot. Reportedly, Pakistani authorities will bring him from Rawalpindi to Lahore and hand him over to the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) under rules of the Geneva Convention.

Meanwhile, other Team India cricketers from Virender Sehwag to Gautam Gambhir, everyone hailed the bravery of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan. Lauding Abhinandan’s bravery, effort, and courage – the 40-year old Sehwag took to his official Twitter account to share a heartwarming post. He wrote, “How proud we are to have you! Bow down to your skills and even more your grit and courage # WelcomeBackAbhinandan. We love you and are filled with pride because of you. #WeAreSupposedToTellYouThis”
