Earlier, former Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara had also thrown his weight behind Kohli, saying the Indian captain will finish as one of the greatest ever cricketers, if not the greatest ever.
Kohli’s all-format batting ability has won him plaudits from the best in the business. The Indian captain’s uncomplicated ways with the bat have won him two more famous fans: Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, who have close to 25000 Test runs between them seem to love Kohli.
In an interview with India Today at the launch of their food joint, ‘Ministry of Crabs’ in Mumbai, Sangakkara lauded Kohli. “Everything about Virat’s game stands out. I think he is head and shoulders above anyone else in world cricket today. And I think going forward, he will be one of the greatest ever cricketers, if not the greatest ever,” he remarked.
