Senior out of favour cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir failed to make the cut in the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contract for the upcoming year. Yuvraj has been in fantastic form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, after being excluded from the probables list of 30 players to play for India in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup. Only five cricketers have been retained in Grade A of the contract. The list A Grade player include skipper MS Dhoni, vice-captain Virat Kohli, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Raina and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Grade B includes Pragyan Ojha, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu and Mohammed Shami. Finally, domestic players have got an entry in the Grade C of the contract. Amit Mishra, Varun Aaron, Wriddhiman Saha, Stuart Binny, Pankaj Singh, R. Vinay Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Parveez Rasool, Axar Patel, Manoj Tiwary, Robin Uthappa, Karn Sharma, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav and KL Rahul are included in Grade C. The Indian cricket board stated in a press release, “Such players who are not in the lists will be placed in Grade C as and when they represent India in Tests / ODIs / T20 Internationals during this season.”
