England started the day at 182 for six, trailing by 49 runs. It took Ravi Ashwin just four overs to take the remaining four wickets and help his side secure an impressive win. The visitors managed to add just 13 runs to their overnight score and inside half an hour were bundled out.

With this win, India took a 3-0 winning lead in the five-match series with one Test at Chennai to go. Ashwin, who picked 12 wickets in the match, registered his Test career’s 24th five-wicket haul. The spinner ranked as number one Test bowler has now picked 71 wickets from 11 matches this year. With India finishing the formalities early, the crowd was in for a treat as team India lead by captain Virat Kohli took a victory lap and acknowledged the support of the fans. Once the home team started the lap, the crowd erupted in joy.

Kohli was adjudged the man of the match for his double century. It was Kohli’s third double ton of the year and as captain as well. He scored 235, his career-best, and helped India take a match-winning lead. Murali Vijay and Jayant Yadav too slammed centuries.

The teams now travel to Chennai for fifth and final Test on December 16. The home side, ranked number one Test team, will love to cap off a fantastic year with yet another win.
