India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was very unfortunate to be run out at the non-striker’s end during the 2025 Asia Cup match against Oman on Friday (September 19) in Abu Dhabi.
The incident took place on the third delivery of the eighth over, just after Pandya had taken a single on his first ball. Sanju Samson hit a straight drive off Jiten Ramanandi. The bowler reached out to stop it, and the ball touched his fingers before hitting the stumps.
Hardik Pandya had moved too far out of his crease and couldn’t return in time.

So far, the tournament hasn’t gone well for Hardik Pandya. He didn’t get a chance to bat in the first two matches against the UAE and Pakistan. In the game against the UAE, he bowled just one over and gave away 10 runs. Then, against Pakistan, he bowled three overs and took 1 wicket for 34 runs.
Oman played well against India in the early part of the first innings. When this was written, India was 125 for 4 after 12 overs, with Sanju Samson scoring 43 runs from 33 balls and Shivam Dube at the crease with 2 runs from 2 balls.
Shah Faisal got Shubman Gill out for just five runs from eight balls. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson put together a good partnership of 66 runs for the second wicket before Ramanandi made Sharma get caught behind for 38 runs off 15 balls. Just two balls later, Pandya lost his wicket. All-rounder Axar Patel played a great innings, scoring 26 from 13 balls, but he was soon out to Aamir Kaleem, leaving Samson and Dube to bat.
India sent Pandya to bat at number four and Samson at number three, while Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma waited their turn. This might have been to give them some practice before the Super-Four stage. While Yadav made the most of his chance, Pandya will need to start strong in the important matches.
