New Delhi: The GOAT Tour of India, starring Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Rodrygo de Paul, has kicked off in Kolkata. After Kolkata, Messi will continue his tour to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi, concluding on December 15.

Messi, who arrived in Kolkata at 2:26 am, began his day by virtually unveiling his 70-foot-tall statue in the city. He reached Salt Lake Stadium around 11:30 am, where he was immediately surrounded by political leaders, former footballers, coaches, and members of the organizing committee, leaving the packed stands with very little chance to see their football icon up close.

Lionel Messi’s brief meet-and-greet with fans at the Kolkata stadium ended as he waved farewell. Several fans seemed disappointed, expecting a longer interaction, with some even giving a ‘thumbs down’ gesture.

At the same time, a special exhibition match is taking place between Mohun Bagan Messi All Stars and Diamond Harbour Messi All Stars, with all players and officials wearing Messi’s iconic Number 10 jersey.
