Pakistan Shaheens win Asia Cup Rising Stars trophy after defeating Bangladesh A

New Delhi:  ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi looked delighted as he handed over the Asia Cup Rising Stars trophy to Pakistan Shaheens, who defeated Bangladesh A in Sunday’s final. This marked Naqvi’s first successful trophy presentation after the controversy during the senior men’s Asia Cup earlier this year.

In the Asia Cup 2025 final, Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India declined to receive the trophy from Naqvi, forcing him to remove the trophies and medals from the ceremony altogether. Even today, the Indian team hasn’t received the Asia Cup trophy, even though behind-the-scenes talks have taken place between the BCCI and Naqvi to resolve the logjam.

Coming to bat first, Bangladesh A managed to post a total of 125 runs on the scoreboard. Even while pursuing a modest target, Pakistan kept losing wickets but still managed to pull level with the young Bangla Tigers total.

In the Super Over, Pakistan required just 7 runs for victory and chased it down in four deliveries without losing a wicket.

When will the trophy be handed over to India

As per reports the Asia Cup trophy remains with Mohsin Naqvi and is being stored at the ACC headquarters in Dubai on his instructions. During the recent ICC Board meetings in Dubai (November 2025), the BCCI formally and informally raised the issue, with Naqvi reportedly agreeing that the matter needs to be resolved.

However, no progress has been made since those discussions. Earlier, Naqvi had stated that Indian players could personally visit the ACC office in Dubai to collect the trophy. He had also proposed holding a formal handover ceremony, but the BCCI turned down the idea multiple times.
