Dhoni clubbed Kings XI Punjab spinner, Axar Patel for 23 runs in the last over of the match to seal the deal for his side. With 23 needed off the last over, Kings XI captain, Murali Vijay, handed the bowl to Axar. Dhoni was on strike and his partner was Ravi Ashwin.

Axar started on a good note, not allowing Dhoni to go for a big shot. The Supergiants captain pulled the ball towards the deep mid-wicket, an easy single was on offer. However, Dhoni decided against it. Next ball, Axar bowled a wide down the leg and had to reload it. Also Read- Powered by captain MS Dhoni, RPS beat KXIP by 4 wickets

Dhoni took control of the things and slammed a six to bring the equation down to 16 off fours balls. With Axar struggling to hold on to his line, Dhoni smashed him towards deep cover.
