The stalwart last represented India in the ICC Champions Trophy in February, which India went on to win. Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket ahead of the England tour, but continues to play in ODIs. After a long break from competitive cricket, there were questions surrounding his form and readiness.

Kohli would surely be disappointed with his dismissal. He attempted to play a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc but edged it straight to the point fielder. This has been a persistent weakness for him, and he is still working on overcoming it. Although Kohli has scored heavily with his drives in the past, on a pitch offering significant movement, this proved to be a risky shot.
