The match-week 12 in the La Liga (Spain’s top-flight football league) and Premier League (England’s top flight football league) witnessed some high octane, full throttle matches and the showstopper fixture was the Manchester Derby.
Real Betis pulled off the unthinkable by putting four goals past a Barcelona team, who are the table toppers of the La Liga to win the match by 3- 4 at the Camp Nou stadium.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid capitalised with a resounding win against Celta Vigo under the new regime of interim manager Santiago Solari.
Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the table, while London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea were held to draws.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Pochetino’s Tottenham Hotspurs kept their premier league hopes intact by securing victories.
On Saturday, it was Marco Reus led Borussia Dortmund, who stole the show against title rivals Bayern Munich to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga (top-flight German league) table.
In the Serie A, it was Juventus who continued their stellar form as they defeated AC Milan 2-0, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the decisive goal and former player Gonzalo Higuain being sent off to add to the drama.
Here are the top five players who stole the show over the weekend :
Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus’ main man is showing why he was worth every single penny of the hundred million euros paid for him at the age of 33. Once Ronaldo starts scoring, he doesn’t stop and that’s exactly what he’s been doing at the Italian club after a slow start. Earlier ibn mid-week he scored against Manchester United and on the weekend he netted again, against AC Milan.

Marco Reus: The German is one of the finest talents in world football, but unfortunately, his career was frequently marred with injuries that kept him on the sidelines. But now, it seems ‘Marcinho’is back to his brilliant best. He scored a brace against Bayern Munich and helped his team, Borussia Dortmund extend the lead with four points in the Bundesliga.
David Silva: The Manchester City legend stole the show and did it against bitter derby rivals, Manchester United. He scored a sensational opening goal which fostered Pep Guardiola’s men to a comfortable win with just occasional threats from the Jose Mourinho’s men in the 3-1 win.

Mo Salah: The Egyptian international scored the opener in Liverpool’s tie against Fulham, and displayed why he won the ‘PFA Premier League Player of The Year’ in the previous year’s campaign.

Bernd Leno: Arsenal could not win the match, but the sole reason behind the draw was because of the German goalkeeper. Bernd Leno kept the Gunners alive with some spectacular saves. He has been quite a revelation for Unai Emery’s side since his Premier League debut but his performance against Wolves was arguably one of his finest so far in the Premier League.
