Hosts England completely outplayed Pakistan in the first two ODIs. The visitors looked ordinary in both the matches, with batsmen failing to challenge England bowlers. Wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed has been Pakistan’s lone hope in the series so far. The right after scoring valuable half century in the first ODI, registered a hundred at Lord’s. However his effort was not enough as Pakistan could not manage to post challenging total.
With Mohammad Hafeez ruled out, Pakistan has replaced him with Mohammad Irfan. However, it is unlikely that the pacer will feature in playing XI. Sami Aslam, who did not impress in the 2nd ODI, will continue to open the innings with Sharjeel Khan.
It will be interesting to see whether leg spinner Yasir Shah gets the game or not as he was expensive in the second ODI. Shah gave away 62 runs in his 9.3 runs and failed to pick any wicket. Pakistan are struggling to find the right combination.
On the other hand, England have been disciplined in both batting and bowling departments. Mark Wood and Chris Woakes have been effective with the ball while batsmen did their job decently. Joe Root has been in superb touch and England skipper Eoin Morgan is looking good as well.
